COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

DREAM/DREAMS COME TRUE....... The ultimate in Resource Centers from every aspect of the community.... 1992 - a year to begin the Foundation, the vehicle to assist non profit organizations and other public agencies to inform the public about their products, services, events, calendars.
Richard T. Lincoln left me $11,000+ to form a non profit that would assist seniors the way that I had assisted Mr. Lincoln with estate administration. With these funds the RECA Foundation was formed as a Washington non profit as of 9/30/92. The RECA Foundation began working with the Senior Centers to install modems, train staff to use the Tri-Cities On- Line Information Service, and to administer the on-line checklists and other information to area senior citizens.
JUST THE BEGINNINGS......... The RECA Foundation continues to explore community information needs. Community calendars, association outreach, economic development, educational institutions, the health and medical community, and support groups are but some of the sources for partnership. We will continue to identify funding sources with an emphasis on joint grant writing and other cooperative efforts in order to maximize resources, minimize expenses and provide the best possible service to the community.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING 1992

Senior Citizens. Extensive checklists and questionnaires on wills, powers of attorney, home safety, alternative living arrangements, finances, etc. are available on-line and are being supplied to seniors through the senior centers and other social service providers.
Community Calendars. The General TriCities Calendars of Events, Senior's activities, Singles events, and the Arts Council for the Mid Columbia Region are sponsored by the Foundation.
Workshops/Seminars/Lectures. The Kennewick Community Education programs are listed and sponsored by the Foundation.
Support Groups and Clubs. The local Auto clubs are listed, several of which worked together on a highly successful "Wheels for Meals" effort to build up the local food bank.

THE FUTURE

Multiple programs with the school districts (Kennewick programs are in progress), public FORUMs on a wide variety of subjects, expansion of the calendar section and a broad range of social programs and projects.
To seek partnerships with other grant seeking organizations in the areas of enhancing public dialogue about regional issues, education, health and human services, cultural programs, the environment, employment, small business, senior's projects and programs, youth projects and programs, and any others that promote peace, harmony and well being within our community.
