1996 Annual Report

Message from the President

1996 was truly a coming of age for the RECA Foundation. The Our Town project has opened up our community to the world as seen by our K-12 residents. The results are quite amazing as anyone can see by visiting the Tri-Cities Free-Net web site. The web site is also host for many of the non-profit, government, educational, and civic organizations in our area. And the numbers will grow to nearly a thousand by the end of 1997 with the help of both the Our Town project and the Adopt-a-Page(c) program.

The Computer Recycling Program is growing steadily and will multiply many fold next year when the Kennewick School District is able to provide space for a formal recycling center at Fruitland school building. Training for families and individuals who will receive those computers will take place in one or more Community Technology Centers that will open in 1997.

The coming of age is told in more detail in the article Dream became reality for RECA Foundation that will appear in the Progress ‘97 Communities edition of the Tri-City Herald. Stay tuned on the Tri-Cities Free-Net web site. As one of our major benefactors believes:

"We have a strong belief that if you provide people the
resources they need, they can accomplish great things."

And so do we!
