Message from the President,

This has been a busy and exciting year. CBPIN Membership has increased significantly. The business community and individuals donated equipment and volunteer hours to the Non-Profit Resource Center, and the non-profit members benefited greatly. Non-profits had workstations added, computers upgraded or replaced, and many were networked for the first time.

Several hundred individuals and families benefited from the computer recycling program. Cash donations and gifts of computers, components, and volunteer hours made this program possible. Recipients got better grades in school, adults received technology training in the Arborwood Computer Lab resulting in better jobs, and the “digital divide” was narrowed in our community.

Fee-for-service contracts with DSHS, DDD, and DVR helped contribute to our goal of self-sustainability. Kids with disabilities, adults with retraining needs, and other technology “have-nots” benefited from our services. The fees from these services (free to individuals), along with generous financial contributions from the corporate sector, have enabled us to provide affordable technology support to the non-profit organizations.

Our VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) program sponsored by CTCNet (Community Technology Centers Network) was to have enabled us to significantly increase our services across the board. However, the events of September 11th have delayed the program start until June, 2002. We look forward to greatly increasing our services to the community and continuing to be the technology catalyst for the non-profit sector.
